Music of Bora Celiker

He enjoy playing (and even singing if the occasion calls for it : ) standard tunes as well as original material. He also take part in free improvisation ensembles and have collaborated with experimental visual artists. Taking a hint from masters such as t-bone walker and bb king, he turned his attention towards jazz musicians like lester young, Johnny Hodges and Charlie Christian. since than this involvement in music became deeper and it became a pathway for him to understand and appreciate art and life in general.

As a guitarist, he is fond of players of the Jim Hall school, Ben Monder, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lage Lund, Adam Rogers, Bill Frisell to name a few. after almost exclusively listening to saxophone players such as Charlie Parker, Wardell Gray, Stan Getz, Lee Konitz, art pepper, sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Chris Cheek and mark turner for years, his focus shifted towards piano players. after he spent sometime checking out guys like Lennie Tristano, Paul Bley, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Richie Beirach, Keith Jarrett, Fred Hersch, Kevin Hays and Brad Mehldau, he realized the instrument's potential and through this instrument and it's players he had grown a liking to classical and 20th century composers.
